Howard K. Stern, the attorney of the late Anna Nicole Smith, told Good Morning America Thursday he "was vindicated” when a Los Angeles judge last week dismissed the drug conspiracy convictions against him and one of the late starlet's doctors.
Stern, speaking with his attorney via satellite feed from Colorado, said "it was incredible" when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Perry let him off the hook, saying the longtime Smith associate had not intended on defrauding anyone in obtaining prescriptions for the late reality TV star.

The Anna Nicole Smith drug trial is off to a bombshell start, as a prosecutor told jurors during opening statements Wednesday that the reality TV star's former attorney/companion Howard K. Stern and two doctors went to great lengths to provide her with a host of prescription medications.
The case is "about three people who funneled powerful addictive medications'' to Smith, Deputy District Attorney Renee Rose told jurors in her opening statement of the trio's trial in Los Angeles Wednesday morning.

Stern, psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich and medical internist Sandeep Kapoor, have pleaded not guilty to felony charges they conspired to provide Smith with sedatives and opiates for almost three years prior to her passing.

Lawyers for Anna Nicole Smith's attorney Howard K. Stern, psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich and medical internist Sandeep Kapoor will face a judge in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday morning in hopes of getting the conspiracy charges dimissed against the three defendants in connection with Smith's death from an accidental drug overdose, RadarOnline.com has learned.
Stern, Eroshevich and Kapoor are accused of conspiring to illegally provide Smith with sedatives and opiates prior to her February 2007 death. All three have pleaded not guilty to the felony charges, and have been ordered to stand trial starting on August 4.

Larry Birkhead, the father of Anna Nicole Smith's 3-year-old daughter Dannielynn, told the Today Show Thursday that despite an initial battle over his daughter's paternity, he's actually become friendly with Smith's pal/attorney Howard K. Stern and doesn't blame him for Smith’s fatal overdose.
Stern goes on trial this August 4 along with Smith's psychiatrist Khristine Eroshevich, and medical internist Sandeep Kapoor, on charges they conspired to illegally provide Smith with sedatives and opiates prior to her February 2007 death.
