After being placed on paid leave last week, Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino has been fired in the wake of a motorbike crash that lifted the lid on his illicit affair with a 25-year-old who he unfairly hired, and then lied to his boss about.
Athletic director Jeff Long announced his decision on Tuesday evening, while detailing an extensive list of wrong-doings that the college head coach had committed during his four years on the job.

The two pilots of a U.S. Navy fighter jet that crashed into a Virginia Beach suburb on Friday destroying five houses safely ejected, and RadarOnline.com has video of the dramatic scene.
Despite black smoke billowing around the crash site and two apartment buildings that had collapsed, burning wildly.
"I saw a pilot on the ground with a parachute hanging from the building, with facial lacerations," retired rescue squad member Pat Kavanaugh told CNN affiliate WTKR. "He was in shock and still strapped to his seat.”
Three people, including one of the pilots, have been taken to a local hospital although amazingly none are believed to have life-threatening injuries.

University of Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino has finally admitted to an extra-marital affair after he and his mistress had a motorcycle crash, which left him with broken ribs - and red-faced in more ways than one.
The married Razorbacks coach was placed on paid administrative leave by the school on Thursday, not because of the sexual impropriety but because he lied to athletics director Jeff Long about the accident involving 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell, whom he had hired as a member of the football staff earlier this week.
"My concern was to protect my family and a previous inappropriate relationship from becoming public," said 51-year-old Petrino in a statement, who apologized to his wife, four children and the staff, students and state of Arkansas.
The coach and the pretty blonde former volleyball player came flying off his Harley Davidson in Crosses, Kansas, on Sunday, leaving him with a cracked vertebrae, four bruised ribs and a bruised face.

Both prosecution and defense attorneys rested their cases in the DUI manslaughter trial of John Goodman Thursday and left the fate of the multi-millionaire in the hands of the Palm Beach, Florida jury.
“The defendant was impaired, the defendant was speeding, the defendant ran a stop sign, the defendant probably unintentionally had too much to drink that night," prosecutor Sherri Collins said in her closing arguments, reported ABCNews.com. "And when the crash happened, did he go around and look at the front of the car to see what he hit or to the canal that was three feet away? No, he headed south."

The multi-millionaire who adopted his girlfriend took to the stand in his DUI manslaughter trial Wednesday in an attempt to explain his actions on the February 2010 night when he was involved in a fatal accident with a 23-year-old student.
Dressed in a dark suit and spotted tie, John Goodman, 48, stammered as he told the Palm Beach, Florida court that he consumed two shots of tequila and two shots of vodka over the course of the night, and claimed he then left the swanky Players Club shortly before the crash on a quest for a Wendy's Frosty, reported the Palm Beach Post.
