Madonna broke down in tears as she paid tribute to a pair of stage workers -- "The Two Charlies" -- who died building her show in Marseille, France on Thursday.

"Before I continue the show I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to two people who lost their lives today," the Material Girl said to her fans in Udine, Italy Thursday night. "You may have heard of it... When they were building my show in Marseille, where we're going next -- we don't know why, but one of the cranes fell... Two men lost their lives, it was a great tragedy to me."
