Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien apologized to Levi Johnston on Thursday night, because of an earlier skit that featured Star Trek icon William Shatner reading a montage of bizarre Twitter quotes falsely attributed to the father of Sarah Palin's grandson.
“I’d like to apologize personally to Levi Johnston and his lawyer and publicist for misrepresenting him in any way,” O’Brien said. “Levi is clearly a great American. We wish him the best of luck as he trains for his upcoming naked photo shoot.”

Before Shatner read the tweets Conan declared, “All real, we did not make these up.”
Shatner then went on to read, in a poetry style, a series of tweets including “Anyone know where I can get some good weed” and “"What’s the deal with the taxi drivers not speaking English, is there a law against it?"

Johnston's rep denied the authenticity of the messages though, releasing the following statement, "My client, Levi Johnston, is being impersonated on your media (Twitter) and this is leading to libel and slanderous statements being attributed to him. ... We want you to put an immediate end to this illegal activity. ... You are being used as a medium to promote this illegality and we want immediate action. ... You are now on notice and must take steps to put an end to what is clearly against the law and against your policy. ... We want to know what steps you will be taking to correct what is clearly a problem which is escalating."
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com Johnston’s rep says, “"Levi has never ever possessed a Twitter account. He feels violated. He feels awful, but that's the nature of the beast. You've got to expect this stuff and take the good with the bad. He doesn't mind some of it but he has a real problem with someone being an outright liar.

“I can't believe these people at the Tonight Show reporting this stuff without verifying their sources. They even had some actor to recite that crap on TV. They don't understand the legality of it. I'm going to see what they say on the show tonight and then we're going to decide what to do about it."

Conan O'Brien is officially banned from flying out of Newark, New Jersey. Or flying to there, for that matter.
The Tonight Show host made a crack about the city earlier this week, saying: "The Mayor of Newark, New Jersey wants to set up a citywide program to improve residents' health. The health-care program would consist of a bus ticket out of Newark."
Newark Mayor Cory Booker then posted a series of tongue-in-cheek anti-Conan clips on You Tube (see below), first putting him on Newark's no-fly list.

This should make for some funny television. As the first guest on his new primetime slot The Jay Leno Show, Jay Leno will be hosting fellow comedian and friend Jerry Seinfeld.
Seinfeld will join some big musical names already announced for the much-anticipated premiere. Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Rihanna are all slated to perform.
Leno moved from late night to primetime earlier this summer after relinquishing the reins to Conan O’Brien, ending his run as the late-night leader for more than a dozen years.

Late night hosts are thanking Washington once again for providing another political scandal for their material.
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford admitted during a news conference Wednesday afternoon to having an extra marital affair in Argentina while missing an action for over a week. The bizarre details of the admission provided enough fodder to fuel laughs during Wednesday night’s monologues.
