David Beckham may not get to play hero in the upcoming World Cup, but he gets to be a hero on the pages of his very own comic book instead, as Bluewater Productions announced Wednesday that the soccer superstar will be profile Fame: David Beckham, that details his ascension up the ranks of soccer and beyond.

Taylor Lautner Comic Book Coming This Summer

“Working on the Beckham book was quite different from any other comic I've worked on to date,” comic writer Pete Rogers said. “Telling someone's real life story was quite a challenge, and I tried to find as many ways as possible to ensure that it was visually interesting and not just a case of 'He did this, and then he did that'.”

In a recent interview, Beckham said the "silver lining" to his injury is that he's spending more time with family. He said that while his three sons are big soccer fans, they're also avid baseball, football and basketball enthusiasts, as well -- we hope they like comic books, too!

Fame: David Beckham retails for $3.99 and goes on sale this September on Amazon.com or in comic book shops across the country; for more information, visit www.bluewaterprod.com.
