Continuing their hot mess of success, Cobra Starship kicks off a 30-date U.S. tour showcasing their highly danceable third album, the packed-with-power-pop Hot Mess.
Since bursting on to the scene in 2006 with Snakes on a Plane (Bring it)—which featured members of the Sounds, Gym Class Heroes and The Academy Is…—the New York band has managed to keep fans captivated. Guided by mentors Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, the five-piece is a veritable melting pot of sounds.
And as Cobra Starship the musicians have had a blast “bringing sassy back” with party beats and comical lyrics on tracks like Pete Wentz is the Only Reason We’re Famous and their ode to the fanny pack, Damn You Look Good And I’m Drunk and, of course, their Top 40 Good Girls Go Bad, featuring everyone’s favorite Gossip Girl Leighton Meester (and co-written by American Idol judge Kara DiGuardi).
The band attributes its good-time grooves to their open-mindedness. “I’m open to anything,” says the five-piece’s always-up-for-fun frontman Gabe Saporta. “Bake the cake and we’ll taste it when we’re done."
