Eighty gems, necklaces, earrings, pendants and rings that belonged to the late Elizabeth Taylor sold for more than $115 million collectively in a Christie's auction in Manhattan Tuesday, setting the world record for a private jewelry collection.

A Cartier pearl and diamond necklace the late Cat on a Hot Tin Roof star received from Richard Burton, who she married and divorced twice, was the highest-priced piece of the evening, selling for a staggering $11,842,500. Burton purchased the necklace at a 1969 auction for $37,000.

A 33.19-carat diamond ring Burton gave her went for more than $8.8 million.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux splashed out $450,000 for a painting at Christie's Artists For Haiti fundraising auction in New York City Friday night, and RadarOnline.com has details of their pricey purchase.

The painting, by American artist Glenn Ligon, is called Stranger #44, measures 72 x 60 inches and is an abstract work of oil, charcoal and graphite on canvas.

The painting was estimated to fetch between $150,000 - $200,000, but bighearted Jen upped the ante, topping the record for an amount paid for a Ligon painting.

The black and gray painting should fit right in with the couple's love for all things monochrome. As usual both Jen and Justin were dressed in black, although Jen mixed it up a little with a white and gray pattern on her cute mini dress.

There was a high profile turnout for the event, along with Aniston and Theroux, Bill Clinton, Sean Penn and Ben Stiller also made an appearance.

It total, the event raised a whopping $13,662,000, with all proceeds expected to benefit the health and education initiatives in Haiti.

It was an easy ride for the estate of Dennis Hopper at Christie's auction house this week. Forty pieces of contemporary art owned by the actor took in just over $10 million, RadarOnline.com is reporting. That was nearly twice the pre-auction estimates.

Hopper, who died in May, was one of the country's most notable collectors of contemporary art and was himself an acclaimed painter.

At the time of his death he was embroiled in a bitter divorce from Victoria Duffy.  He had filed against her in January, not long after being diagnosed with cancer.

In competing legal actions, she's filed a $45 million claim against Hopper's estate; and the estate has filed a lawsuit against Duffy, accusing her of stealing $1.5 million in art from Hopper in the months before his death.

Either way, the good news out of the sale is that the estate is now $10 million richer, and 40 percent of the estate goes into trust for Hopper and Duffy's seven-year-old daughter, Galen.
