Everyone can now relax: Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan don’t hate each other. A rep tells RadarOnline.com that their rumored fight was just an onlooker’s misunderstanding of a casual chat between the two men.

Reports surfaced on Monday that Piven and Kattan got into a nasty war of words backstage at Alexa Chung’s MTV talk show on August 6 after Kattan cracked a joke about the Entourage star’s bout with mercury poisoning.

“Jeremy and Chris did see each other at MTV and they were joking around backstage before a talk show appearance, as people often do,” Piven’s rep told RadarOnline.com. “If it was interpreted as a fight, someone wasn’t paying attention, that’s all. Kattan, who was in town to promote his new IFC series, Bollywood Hero, reportedly greeted Piven with, “So, what are you here to promote, your Broadway play?”

Piven notoriously pulled out of Speed the Plow last December, claiming his was ill after a bout of mercury poisoning. He is currently in a legal battle with the play’s producers who believe he fabricated the illness to get out of his contract.
