Brittany Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack is furious over a published report that claims the actress obtained a prescription for 120 hydrocodone pills just 11 days before her death – and only 11 pills were left in the bottle.
Monjack tells RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview that the pills were prescribed to Brittany’s mother Sharon, a cancer survivor, and the report is so outrageous and damaging that it is harming her health and she’s considering legal action.

The release of Brittany Murphy’s full autopsy report on February 26 ended all rumors and hurtful speculation that the actress had abused drugs.
But a day after that report was released a website claimed that 109 pills were missing when only 44 should have been taken, per the prescription guideline. The published article asked “so why were so many pills prescribed in the first place?” and claimed the coroner wanted to know as well but his office had received no help from Monjack in locating the doctor.

But the truth is the 120 pills of hydrocodone were prescribed to Sharon because she suffers from neuropathy, says Simon. Neuropathy is a type of nerve damage and in Sharon’s case it was caused by chemotherapy and radiation, Monjack told RadarOnline.com.
Dealing with the report that falsely claimed “missing” pills belong to Brittany is harming her mother’s health even more and triggering her neuropathy, according to Monjack.
“We have never been asked about these pills by the coroner,” an extremely upset Monjack told RadarOnline.com.

“Dr. Cohen prescribed the pills to Sharon Murphy. Dr. Cohen has never prescribed anything to Brittany. He’s never, ever seen Brittany.”
He accused the website that published the report of devastating Sharon by “trying to dig up any last fantastical story based entirely on fiction to defame her dead daughter.”
“This false story is triggering her neuropathy more and it's damaging,” he told RadarOnline.com. “It’s hard enough to lose a daughter but then to have this story…makes it even harder.

“Sharon still has to have reconstructive surgery and is a very sick woman. This is so defamatory and ridiculous. It benefits no one when these lies are propagated."
“Sharon is considering legal action against (the website that published the article)."

Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive statement that he feels vindicated by the contents of his wife's full autopsy report, which was released Thursday.

Expressing his love for Brittany's family and disgust at the rumors that his wife had used illegal drugs, Simon left no doubt about his ongoing love for Brittany and thanked everyone who supported him through this difficult time. It was a highly emotional day for Simon, who said he and Brittany's mother both cried.
The autopsy report showed that Brittany did not have illegal drugs in her system and had pneumonia at the time of her passing.
Simon told RadarOnline.com:
"Although Brittany's autopsy report was incredibly shocking and sad to the family, to me, Sharon and I both shed tears. We are vindicated in that we always said Brittany never did any kind of illegal substances and that the medication she was taking was the medication found in her system and we hope now that people will understand the legacy of Brittany Murphy and the incredible body of work of Brittany Murphy.
"As the most maligned man in America, I hope people realize that they shouldn't believe anything they hear and read and I love my wife as much today as I did on the day I married her.

"I am so sad that we are living in a culture of rumor and I just wish that people would understand that sometimes out of every tragedy can come some good. I know Brittany would want to feel the vindication. She never took a drug or a drink and that's been shown. I love her family; the rumors can stop as we grieve our dead loved one and we can get on to grieve.
"I personally thank the thousands of people who have emailed me with condolences; people I've never met, people who have never met me, the people who don't jump to rush decisions. I hope people realize what an incredible mother and friend Sharon is. The rest of the family are so, so devastated but at least the truth was outted, as it always does, and the truth is, unfortunately, Brittany died of pneumonia and the drug intoxication turned out to be Vicks inhaler combined with the menstrual cramp medication that we never denied she took.
