Appearing on the CBS Early Show, Levine said if he could give van der Sloot advice it would be, "I'd tell him, 'you're not going to make it. What you need to do is pray because someone's gonna kill ya, and just enjoy the rest of the time you have on earth'.

"You know, that's a dangerous place," Levine says of Castro Castro Prison. "You've got murderers there, terrorists there. You've got bad people. And the problem he's facing is that the father of Stephany is a prominent person and this is an impoverished prison. You pay off the right people, ya know, someone will stick a knife in the guy."

Levine revealed that even the bookmakers in Las Vegas believe van der Sloot, who is also the only suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, is a dead man walking.
"Nobody is picking up the action on this," Levine says. "The show's over for this kid. He needs to face the facts."

The media mogul admitted the Forever Your Girl singer's departure from the top-rated show will take its toll.
"I hate saying this, but Paula's a star," he said. "When she came on the show, she was a star, is a star, will always be a star. And then you've got to remember that, with all the people [lining] up, they want to be a star on American Idol. You've got to sort of try to concentrate on them and not think about yourself, which is difficult."

On Tuesday, they got the moment back as they returned from their summer hiatus. The award winners, who edged four-year incumbent champ Ellen DeGeneres for the win, brought out their glistening Emmy awards and reveled in their elusive prize on a spectacular brand new set.
