EXCLUSIVE VIDEO INTERVIEWS: American Idols Live Tour Members Dish On Who Should Be New Judge

Posted on Aug 13, 2010 @ 10:50PM - 3 comments

The American Idols Live 2010 Tour hit Los Angeles Friday night with the Season 9 contestants performing a concert at the Staples Center.  This was the last group to experience the wrath of Simon Cowell before his retirement, so RadarOnline.com asked them who they think should replaced the judge who became more famous than any of the Idol winners.

“It doesn’t matter who it’s going to be,” the American Idol winner Lee DeWyze told RadarOnline.com.  “The show’s going to go on and be successful.  I think they should just bring in people who aren’t trying to be the next Simon, Kara, Randy or Ellen.”

There were two votes for Harry Connick Jr. by Aaron Kelly and Katie Stevens, and she also liked the idea of Steven Tyler joining the show.  Casey James told RadarOnline.com the next judge should be “Bret Michaels, because I like him.”

Andrew Garcia
and “Big Mike” Lynch each thought THEY should be the judges, cracking themselves up with the idea.

VIDEO: Lee DeWyze Delivers A Knockout American Idol Performance

Posted on May 19, 2010 @ 06:48AM - 5 comments

The competition may finally be catching up to frontrunner Crystal Bowersox. On Tuesday night, American Idol viewers were in for a treat as the last three contestants belted out not one, but two, songs with Lee DeWyze delivering a knockout final performance that proved he does have the chops to be the last person standing.

DeWyze first started with Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man. Before his performance, the Illinois-native told Ryan Seacrest that he "wanted to pick a song that [he] related to" and after putting his gritty and soulful voice to the track, the judges swooned. But it was his second solo- chosen specifically for him by Simon Cowell- that left the judges "stunned."  His take on Leonard Cohen's Halleleujah proved he had a voice worth the Idol title.  This was, as Randy Jackson suggested, the "the biggest moment" in DeWyze's career.

The nation lost its favorite singing teddy bear Wednesday night when Michael "Big Mike" Lynche was voted off from American Idol - leaving only three contestants left.

Of course, standing atop the chopping block wasn't anything new for the R&B crooner.  A few weeks back, Lynche was supposed to be voted off the show but the judges- who loved his melodic voice as well as his story (Lynche recently became a father) saved him from elimination.

The songs of Frank Sinatra didn't bode well for American Idol contestant Aaron Kelly who was eliminated from the show Wednesday night.

After his mediocre rendition of Fly Me to the Moon on Tuesday’s performance show, the youngest member in the competition was ousted in a quiet and bittersweet goodbye. There were no tears, as with past Idol eliminations, but a simple farewell to a young performer who needed just a bit more time to grow.

Pocket squares and skinny ties abounded on the American Idol stage on Tuesday as the Top 5 took on the eternally cool catalog of Frank Sinatra. The excitement is building and the performers nerves are fraying as it gets ever closer to crowning the season nine American Idol.

Tuesday night saw the remaining six perform songs from country great Shania Twain's songbook, with mixed results.

For once Crystal Bowersox wasn't the clear front runner, giving a relatively lack lustre performance. Stepping up to the plate though was Kara's cougar favorite Casey James, giving what Randy said was, "One of the best Casey James performances ever" and Ellen judged as, "Your best performance to date." Even Simon raved that Casey gave his "best performance so far" with his take on the Shania hit, Don't.

Siobhan Magnus also catapulted her way back into the competition with her rendition of Any Man Of Mine - all four judges raved, with Ellen providing the quip of the season so far with, "Way to pull the Shania Twain into the station." But Simon being Simon had to add that, "The end was almost like you were giving birth up there."

Pretty much guaranteeing himself a spot in the bottom three once again, and with no last minute judges' save to rescue him this time around, "Big Mike" Lynche gave a disappointing rendition of It Only Hurts When I Breathe. Though Randy, Ellen and Kara gave positive feedback, Simon hit the nail on the head, commenting, "The performance was a little bit wet. Like you were in a musical acting out the words. It was a little bit girly for you."

Also looking likely to join the bottom three, Lee Dewyze scored mixed reviews with his take on You're Still The One. Randy, Ellen and Kara gave overall good reviews, though Kara commented that Lee was pulling some pretty weird faces throughout his performance!

But acid tongued Simon slammed Lee commenting that his performance "started rough and never got any better" going on to say that it was "awful".

EXCLUSIVE: Crystal Bowersox "Determined" To Win American

Past clear favorite to win the season, Crystal Bowersox gave an overall mediocre performance compared to her former appearances, singing No One Needs To Know Right Now. Simon who has raved week in and week out about Crystal said she sounded like a "coffee shop band" and that the song was "forgettable".

Aaron Kelly fared better with his rendition of You've Got A Way - garnering rave reviews from all four judges. Simon commented "you did really well tonight." But the question remains, is it too little too late?

Posted on Apr 08, 2010 @ 06:40AM - 13 comments

The American Idol judges disagreed with the rest of the country on Wednesday’s elimination night of the competition which was supposed to whittle down the finalists to a group of 8. They used their lone “save card” to keep Michael “Big Mike” Lynche on the show for another week RadarOnline.com can report.

As his wife sat crying in the crowd (actually, even fellow contestant Crystal Bowersox was in tears), a focused Lynche sang for a reprieve with another soulful rendition of This Woman’s Work.
