Casey Abrams better steer clear of Marc Anthony.

After the scruffy 20-year-old delivered a passionate performance of Maroon 5's Harder to Breathe on Wednesday's American Idol, he kissed Anthony’s wife, judge Jennifer Lopez.

"You did what I've been trying to do for four months!" judge Steven Tyler told the Idyllwild, California native after the surprise smooch. "There [are] millions of people in America that are really angry, because you p***ed them off because you're so f***ing good!"

Posted on Apr 14, 2011 @ 06:15AM - 2 comments

It was lights, camera, action on Wednesday's American Idol, with the Top 8 finalsts all singing songs from movies.

Most of the contestants once again earned high praises from the judges, but perhaps Randy Jackson summed up this season’s mixed bag of talents the best, saying, “It makes me proud to sit here and judge artists as well as pop stars -- the world cannot live by pop stars alone.”

Other interesting plot twists on Wednesday's episode included a pair of contestants going with their artistic gut, against the advice of their show-appointed mentors; and Jennifer Lopez, still reeling from last week's shocking elimination of Pia Toscano, taking a stand for the remaining female finalists, saying, "I don't want any of the girls to go home."

While the judges got on Pia Toscano a bit for her dance moves (or lack thereof), the New Yorker rocked the house with a sterling rendition of Tina Turner's River Deep - Mountain High, prompting judge Steven Tyler to tell the pretty songstress, "You killed it!"

After their interpretations of Elton John fell flat with the judges, both Thia Megia and Naima Adedapo were eliminated on Thursday's edition of American Idol, as judges had to send home two contestants to make up for last week's dramatic save of Casey Abrams on a night 55 million votes were counted, a record for this stage in the competition.

On Wednesday's show, Adedapo performed John's hit I'm Still Standing, while Megia sang the ballad Daniel. The bottom three on Thursday's show were Megia, the high school student from Mountain House, California; Adedapo, a dance instructor from Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and  perhaps surprisingly, Paul McDonald, a quirky singer from Nashville, Tennessee.
