Almost the entire Dancing with the Stars cast turned out Friday night to celebrate Chaz Bono.

Cher's transgender son was the star attraction in Beverly Hills for the GLSEN Respect Awards Honoring Chaz Bono.

A cavalcade of notable people are wearing purple for Spirit Day on Thursday October 20, which aims to show support for LGBT teens and fight bullying, and the growing numbers of gay teen suicides.

A cavalcade of notable people are wearing purple for Spirit Day on Thursday October 20, which aims to show support for LGBT teens and fight bullying, and the growing numbers of gay teen suicides.

“From Hollywood to corporate America to local grassroots advocates, Americans are taking a stand against bullying this Spirit Day and showing all LGBT teens that it’s okay to be who you are,” GLAAD President Mike Thompson said in a statement about the occasion, which is part of National Bullying Prevention Month.

Among those who've participated in the day's festivities include the casts of Good Morning America, The View and The Talk; and celebrities such as Cher, Ellen DeGeneres, Conan O’Brien, Chaz Bono, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Heather Graham, Carson Kressley, Ricky Martin and the casts of TeenNick’s Degrassi and MTV’s Jersey Shore and Teen Mom.

Carson Kressley was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars’ 13th season Tuesday, a night after he and partner Anna Trebunskaya had the night's lowest score with 19/30 points for their cheerleading-inspired jive.

After he was ousted, Kressley thanked the show and Trebunskaya, calling her a “wonderful, kind and patient” dance partner.

After a firestorm of criticism from special interest groups condemning Dancing With the Stars for including its first transgendered contestant, Chaz Bono, the show's executive producer, Conrad Green, said the pundits should let Bono work his magic on the dance floor before jumping to conclusions.

His comments on Thursday came the same day more groups condemned the show for including Bono, who's paired up with a female dancer Lacey Schwimmer in the competition. Putting Bono on, The Culture and Media Institute's Dan Gainor said, is "a ridiculous, agenda-driven move" and "the latest example of the networks trying to push a sexual agenda on American families.”

Online group OneMillionMoms.com called the inclusion of Bono and openly-gay reality star Carson Kressley "completely unacceptable.

The dancer pairings for the 13th season of Dancing with the Stars were announced on Good Morning America Wednesday, with the most notable tandem being that of Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer.

The 42-year-old daughter-turned-son of Cher and the late Sonny Bono is the first transgender contestant to appear on the ABC hit since it began in 2005. On Tuesday, Chaz told GMA she “wouldn't have even felt comfortable dancing with a male dance partner."

Hours after ABC announced the star-studded cast of the 13th season of the Dancing with the Stars, the ensemble group immediately began promoting the upcoming season on Good Morning America Tuesday.

Chaz Bono -- the transgender daughter-turned-son of Sonny and Cher -- said his famous mother checked in with her upon hearing that he'll be taking the ballroom floor.

"She wanted to know how everything was going, if I was nervous," Chaz said.
