Ann Pettway pled ‘not guilty’ today to a federal kidnapping charge that she abducted three-week-old Carlina White from a Harlem Hospital back in August 1987, RadarOnline.com has learned.

White discovered in adulthood that Pettaway was not in fact her biological mother.

Pettaway’s court-appointed attorney, Robert Baum, told the court his investigators are tracking down a woman who was first suspected of kidnapping White back in 1987, but whose alibi at the time eliminated her from being suspected.

Kidnapper Ann Pettway, who admitted to snatching baby Carlina White from a New York hospital 23 years ago, was tracked down by police through a surprise Facebook message from a family member, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Lt. David Daniels of the Bridgeport Police Department in Connecticut received a surprise message on Sunday on his Facebook page alerting him of Pettway's location.

The family member - who has not been named - had turned to Daniels, a 23-year veteran of the Bridgeport Police Department, for assistance because they knew he would treat the situation fairly and with an even hand, reported the Bridgeport News.

The family of kidnap victim Carlina White is furious that her alleged abductor, Ann Pettway, is asking for to be forgiven for her crimes and want her to be sent to prison for life, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

"I want her to rot in jail," Carlina's aunt, Lisa White-Healy told RadarOnline.com in an exclusive interview. "I want justice to be served.

"I think she should get 23 years to life to make up for the time she took away from my sister."

The woman who allegedly kidnapped an infant from a New York hospital in 1987 confessed that she committed the crime because she had multiple miscarriages and was afraid she would never have her own children, according to the criminal complaint filed against her Monday.

Ann Pettway told the FBI that she saw the 19-day-old baby at the hospital on August 4, 1987 and kidnapped her a few hours later.

“She told her friends and family members that the victim was her child,” the complaint states. “When no one stopped Pettway she took the victim with her on a train to Pettway’s home in Bridgeport, Conn.”

Two high-profile suspects will appear in court Monday -- the woman accused of kidnapping a baby from a New York hospital more than two decades ago, and the 22-year-old man who nearly killed Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in a deadly shooting spree earlier this month.

Appearing in a New York courtroom will be Ann Pettway, who's accused of donning a phony nurse's outfit to kidnap baby Carlina White in 1987 from Harlem Hospital.

The now-23-year-old Carlina, who was raised as Nejdra Nance, recently reunited with her birth family. She's implicated North Carolina native Pettway -- who turned herself into authorities Sunday -- as her kidnapper.

The woman who raised Carlina White for 23 years following her kidnapping from a New York hospital turned herself into the police Sunday, RadarOnline.com is reporting.

Federal officials have confirmed that Ann Pettway is being held in Bridgeport, Conn.

It is not yet known if Pettway herself kidnapped Carlina when she was just 19 days old but she is the woman who raised her.

Growing up in Connecticut and Georgia, Carlina long had a hunch that Pettway wasn't her biological mother, and recently did her own detective work on missing children who'd been born in 1987.

She found her own photo on the website of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. With the help of that organization and the NYPD, she was reunited with her real family in the Bronx.

Nejdra Nance -- the 23-year-old Atlanta woman who found out she was actually Carlina White, a baby kidnapped in 1987 from a New York hospital by a phony nurse -- broke her silence on her alleged kidnapper, including what she hopes to happens to the woman.

Ann Pettway is the woman who Carlina's implicated as her kidnapper, though no charges had been filed as of Friday.

In a story broadcast on WTVD-TV, the ABC affiliate in Durham, North Carolina, Carlina said: "She had something set up ..  For a person to put on a nurse's suit and to wander through a hospital, that hospital ... you know what you were doing.”

Carlina said she utilized search engines such as Google and Yahoo for information when she became suspicious of her own identity.

She said the reunion "is all that she wanted, ever since [she] found out that lady wasn't her biological mother ... I just hope that the officials can get her in their hands, so they can get her side of the story now.”

Pettway, who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, did not speak to the TV station, who knocked on her front door. Her neighbors said they were surprised over the new developments.

"She's a good lady," said her neighbor, Michelle Bullock. "That's why its such a surprise she did what she did."

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, Carlina was just 19 days old when she was taken, after her then-teenage mother Joy took her to Harlem Hospital August 4, 1987 after a high fever struck.

Officials from the Center for Missing And Exploited Children began working with New York police, around the same time Carlina contacted Joy  to compare her baby photos to those Joy had posted on a missing children's website. Upon seeing the photos, Carlina told Joy she thought she was her long-lost daughter, which DNA tests proved correct.

"Carlina was the missing link, and we have gotten her back in the name of Jesus, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah!" her ecstatic godmother Pat Conway said.
