Disfigured Model Lauren Scruggs Suffered ‘Toughest Week Yet’

It’s been two months since she walked into a small plane propeller but life is not getting any easier for model and fashion editor Lauren Scruggs.

“We chalked up this past week as one of the toughest yet,” the 23-year-old’s mom, Cheryl, revealed when she poured her heart out on the family blog on CaringBridge.org.

“You would think that things would be on the upswing, huh? They are in some ways. She is progressing well, physically, but we have now entered into working through the 5 stages of grief.

Lauren Scruggs is making leaps and bounds in her recovery since walking into the spinning propeller of a plane and is now walking and eating solid foods.

The 23-year-old model/fashion blogger, whose face and shoulder and hand were sliced by the propeller on December 3, has been able to eat some of her favorite foods, including sweet potatoes and hard-boiled eggs, her father wrote on about Lauren on CaringBridge.com.

“It’s just a miracle to see the progress that she’s been making,” Jeff Scruggs said, according to ABC News. He reported that she is bouncing back following the traumatic injuries she suffered.

The model and fashion editor who lost her left hand and had her face slashed in a plane propeller accident on Saturday is finally talking and expressing her gratitude to those trying to nurse her back to health.

The model and fashion editor who lost her left hand and had her face slashed in a plane propeller accident on Saturday is finally talking and expressing her gratitude to those trying to nurse her back to health.

Currently recovering from several surgeries in the ICU at the Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, Lauren Scruggs managed to say both her name and, "I love you" to her distraught parents, ABCNews.com reported.

Having already lost her hand, Lauren also suffered extensive injuries to her face, brain, and shoulder and her family are now praying that she will not lose the sight in her left eye.
