Katie Couric and her boyfriend Brooks Perlin have broken up after five years of dating.

The couple met at a cancer research fundraising event in 2006, but now the 37-year-old Perlin is moving out of Katie’s Upper East Side townhouse. 

The 54-year-old former CBS Evening News anchor initiated the breakup, according to Us Weekly.  “Brooks is a nice guy, but it was inevitable because they had different priorities and perspectives, and their age difference made it a challenge too.”

When Katie Couric wraps the CBS Evening News broadcast Thursday night, she'll be making news herself.

It will be Couric's last appearance at CBS, the end of a run that made her -- on September 5, 2006 -- the first weeknight solo female anchor at any of the "Big Three" networks.

Katie Couric and Brooks Perlin hit the beach in Miami Sunday, and RadarOnline.com has the pictures.

The CBS news anchor, 54, and her wealthy businessman boyfriend, 36, relaxed at the Ritz Carlton South Beach.

Perlin showed off his triathlon bod while Katie was more demure in a one-piece suit and Yankees baseball cap.

They've been dating more than four years, and their age difference has apparently never gotten in the way.
