Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Attend Sarajevo Film Festival

Actress, humanitarian and new filmmaker Angelina Jolie was honored at the Sarajevo Film Festival Saturday, and she had partner Brad Pitt beside her for support.

The couple waved to the cheering crowds before Angelina, 36, was awarded the Honorary Heart Of Sarajevo award during the festival’s closing ceremony in the Bosnian capital.

Angelina looked stunning in a draped Elie Saab gown, while Brad, 47, went for a more relaxed look in an open collared shirt and a dark suit.

She held back tears and placed her hand on her heart as she accepted her award from the festival's director.

Angelina's directorial debut, The Land Of Blood And Honey, is about a Muslim woman and a Serb man who fall in love at the beginning of the war in Bosnia during the 1990s – a highly controversial subject, even to this day.  It was shot on location.

As the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees, Angelina has been to Bosnia-Herzegovina  on several occasions in addition to when she filmed there.

Angelina Jolie will be able to say "Lights, Camera, Action!" in Bosnia, after all.

The A-lister was re-issued a permit to direct her first movie in the country Monday, RadarOnline.com has learned, after authorities there last week revoked it following an uproar from a women's group who mistakenly believed the film was about a Bosniak woman falling in love with her Serbian rapist.

The A-lister was re-issued a permit to direct her first movie in the country Monday, RadarOnline.com has learned, after authorities there last week revoked it following an uproar from a women's group who mistakenly believed the film was about a Bosniak woman falling in love with her Serbian rapist.

Sarajevo's minister of culture read the script to determine that was not the case, Jolie's Bosnian producer Edin Sarkic told the AP Monday, adding he was given a written permit allowing Jolie and her crew to begin filming in the area next month.

On Thursday news broke that Bosnian Culture Minister Gavrilo Grahovac revoked a permit for Jolie to film in the country. His decision came after meeting with the local Women Victims of War Association which had problems with the story line of a Serbian soldier falling for a Muslim woman.

Jolie sat down with Jeljko Komsic in Sarajevo to discuss the fate of over 100,000 refugees who are still displaced 15 years after the brutal civil war that tore apart their country.

"I hope that there will soon be practical steps to improve these people's lives," Jolie said in a statement released by the UNHCR.

Angelina, who had her twins along for the trip, arrived in Sarajevo by private jet from Budapest on Friday. She was in Hungary for the opening of her latest spy thriller, Salt.
