Susan Sarandon had jaws dropping this weekend when she referred to Pope Benedict XVI as a “Nazi” during an interview, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The 65-year-old Oscar winning actress made an appearance at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, New York on Saturday and according to Newsday while discussing her 1995 flick Dead Man Walking, she said she sent a copy of the book it was based on to the Pope.

“The last one, not this Nazi one we have now,” she said to fellow actor and interviewer Bob Balaban, who expressed disapproval, only to have Sarandon repeat the comment.
