Margaret and Eric, who also worked as a park ranger, were married for six years and are parents to Anna, who turns 4 next month, and Katie who will be 2 in May.

“She was an excellent wife, great daughter-in-law, and a loving mother,” Cynthia added. “Now those two precious girls have to grow up without a mother. It’s devastating.

“Eric is doing as well as can be expected. He has people around him helping to support him. We are a close family.”

Margaret was gunned down at Rainier National Park early Sunday morning. Iraq war veteran Benjamin Colton Barnes, 24, is the only suspect. A body believed to be his was found Monday in the deep snow.

As RadarOnline.com reported, a gunman fired shots at Anderson and another the ranger.

Anderson would have been armed, explained Park spokesman Kevin Bacher. She was one of the rangers tasked with law enforcement, but she was shot before she had even exited her vehicle.

Police also wanted to speak to Barnes with regard to a shooting at a house party late Sunday night in Skyway where four people were left wounded, two of them are in critical condition.

Court documents show that Barnes was involved in a custody dispute in Tacoma last July and his toddler’s mother sought a temporary restraining order against him.

In her declaration, she said it was possible Barnes was suffering from PTSD and was suicidal following his deployment to Iraq from 2007 to 2008, and kept a lot of weapons at his home, was easily irritated and depressed.

Police have recovered a body believed to be Iraq Army vet Benjamin Colton Barnes, 24, who was the only suspect in the slaying of Mount Rainier National Park Ranger Margaret Anderson.

The mother-of-two was brutally killed in the park Sunday morning after trying to stop Barnes who was allegedly racing through the area to escape from an earlier shooting.

Public Information Officer Guy Gill revealed that cops searching the park found the body of a white male face down in the snow. His identity has not been officially confirmed but they believe it is Barnes.

The suspect had been spotted by officials who had been hunting Barnes down since the murder of the 34-year-old ranger. They were also looking for him in connection with a shooting at a party in the early hours of Sunday where four people were hit by bullets, two in critical condition.

The man believed to be Barnes apparently died when trying to walk through chest-deep snow in the massive recreational area, while being chased by the SWAT team.

Barnes was said to have been suffering from PTSD and was suicidal following his deployment in Iraq in 2007-2008.

The gunman fired shots at both Anderson and another the ranger, Park spokesman Kevin Bacher said. Anderson would have been armed. She was one of the rangers tasked with law enforcement, but she was shot before she had even exited the vehicle.

Authorities believe that Barnes may now be “hiding out” in the remote wilderness area near Seattle where the incident happened.

Police also want to speak to him with regard to a shooting at a house party late Sunday night in Skyway where four people were left wounded, two of them are in critical condition.

Officials believe Barnes has survival skills due to his military training but do not know whether he would have survived the snowy conditions. They evacuated 125 people Sunday night from the visitors center at the National Park.

“We do have a very hot and dangerous situation,” Pierce County Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said about the armed gunman on the loose.

Court documents show that Barnes was involved in a custody dispute in Tacoma last July and his toddler’s mother sought a temporary restraining order against him.

The woman said that it was possible Barnes was suffering from PTSD and was suicidal following his deployment to Iraq from 2007 to 2008 and kept a lot of weapons at his home, and was easily irritated and depressed.
