An autopsy got underway Saturday afternoon to determine the exact cause of DJ AM's death -- but with cops already leaking the news that a crack pipe and numerous prescription drugs were found in the apartment, there's little doubt that pharmaceutics played a role in the disc jockey's tragic demise.

The sight of his body being removed from the Manhattan building Friday night was shocking enough to his family and friends but few if any were prepared for the idea that he'd fallen back into drugs.

Moments ago, The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office finally released the official cause of death of pop superstar Michael Jackson.

In a statement sent to RadarOnline.com, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said:

"The drugs PROPOFOL and LORAZEPAM were found to be the primary drugs responsible for Mr. Jackson's death. Other drugs detected were: Midazolam, Diazepam, Lidocaine and Ephedrine."

Despite releasing the cause of death, the Coroner's Office has opted not to release the full autopsy report.

Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has been a focal point of the investigation ever since Jackson died of cardiac arrest June 25th at his rented mansion in Holmby Hills, an exclusive area of Los Angeles, CA.

Prior to his death, Murray administered various drugs, including the powerful anesthetic Propofol, to the King of Pop.

Jackson reportedly insisted on taking the drug to help him sleep.

At this time, no one has been charged with any wrongdoing in connection with Jackson's death - but that could change with the release of the official Coroner's report.

At the time of his death, Jackson was 50 and on the brink of launching a major comeback in his storied music career.

He is scheduled to be laid to rest on September 3rd, only days after what would have been his 51st birthday.

The private ceremony will still take place at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

The ceremony "will be limited to family and close friends," according to a statement issued on behalf of the Jackson family.

The L.A. County Coroner's Office has NOT seen the results of a second autopsy performed on superstar Michael Jackson -- an autopsy requested by the Jackson family - Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter exclusively tells RadarOnline.com.

Reports surfaced earlier Wednesday that results from the second autopsy on the King Of Pop's body were consistent with those of the official coroner's report.

But the coroner's office has not had a chance to compare both sets of results to see if the findings into the music icon's death are identical.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Michael Jackson's Brain Will Tell Stories About His Life

Posted on Jul 09, 2009 @ 05:15PM - 4 comments
DNP Random Things Pics

Renowned pathologist Dr Michael Baden has exclusively told RadarOnline.com that tests on Michael Jackson's brain could unlock many secrets about the performer's life as well as his death.

An examination of Jackson's brain is part of the forensic examination still underway. "The brain is like a database and these tests will reveal a lot of information like if he was beaten as a child to any small tumors or previous overdoses that he may have suffered," Baden, who recently conducted an autopsy on David Carradine, said.

"The brain results will determine if he was given improper medication and how authentic statements provided by his physicians were."

As the world waits for the toxicology results that will determine the exact cause of Jackson's death Dr Baden believes that they will not be released until the brain analysis is also complete, a process that can take "around four weeks."

It is possible that Diprivan in itself caused him to die, Baden said. "It can slow down breathing and causes blood pressure to fall and a person can die as a result but all the other drugs also mentioned like Demerol, Morphine and Methadone can also be lethal if taken in large quantities.

"It is going to be very interesting to see what all these results tell us about the precise condition Michael Jackson was in."

CONFIRMED: David Carradine 'Died Of Asphyxiation

Posted on Jul 02, 2009 @ 07:04AM - Add a comment
DNP Random Things

David Carradine died of asphyxiation but did not commit suicide, it has been confirmed.

Medical examiner Dr Michael Baden has concluded that the way in which Carradine's body was bound before his death confirmed that he had not intentionally killed himself.

"The cause of death was asphyxiation, an inability to breathe. Now why that happened is still what we're working on." Baden told Reuters.

"He didn't die of natural causes, and he didn't die of suicidal causes from the nature of the ligatures around the body, so that leaves some kind of accidental death."

He added that the full determination of the cause of the actor's death would not be known for at least another week.

It has been suggested that Carradine's death was caused by auto-erotic asphyxiation.

EXCLUSIVE: Autopsy Now Over In Michael Jackson Case: No Cause Of Death Yet

Posted on Jun 26, 2009 @ 11:19AM - Add a comment
DNP Random Things

As RadarOnline.com was first to report, the autopsy on  Michael Jackson is now over, but officials tell us that a cause of death has not been determined, pending further tests.

Dr. Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran – an autopsy surgeon with the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office - performed  the autopsy, which lasted several  hours Friday.

Officials will hold a news conference at the Coroner’s Office at 1:30PM PDT to address their findings, or lack thereof.

It was hoped the autopsy would shed some light on what caused the death of the 50-year-old superstar singer, who unexpectedly died Thursday in Los Angeles, shocking fellow entertainers and fans across the world.

Since Jackson died, there has been widespread speculation  that the pop icon  died of cardiac arrest, meaning his heart simply stopped beating. But the big question is: if it was in fact cardiac arrest, why did it happen?  That’s what the Coroner’s Office is trying to determine.

Reports in the UK Sun Friday suggest that Jackson may have collapsed after an injection of Demerol, a powerful painkiller that can in certain circumstances increase the risk of cardiac arrest. The singer reportedly became addicted to Demerol and morphine during his 2003 trial for child sex abuse.

"Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing," the newspaper quoted one source as saying. "His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped.

Rumors have been circulating that the singer had abused prescription medication for years. Jackson – who once broke his leg and broke a vertebrae in his back – is said to have suffered from chronic pain.
