97-year-old television legend Art Linkletter has died.
Linketter was the host of House Party, which ran on CBS radio and television for 25 years, and People Are Funny, on NBC radio-TV for 19 years. Linkletter was famous for interviewing children on House Party and Kids Say the Darndest Things, which led to a successful series of books quoting children. He’s the only person in TV history to have five shows running concurrently on network TV.

When Disneyland opened in July 17, 1955, Linkletter was the most famous man on TV, and was asked by Walt Disney to MC the opening ceremonies, in exchange he was given the rights to the camera and film concessions at the theme park.

Linkletter was married and had five children. One of his daughters committed suicide in 1969.
His marriage is one of the longest running marriages in Hollywood history.
Linkletter’s most famous quote was “Kids say the darnest things,” but he also doled out some great wisdom in other quotes:
“Things work out best for the people who make the best of the way things work out,” he was quoted as saying.
And, “Diplomacy - the art of jumping into trouble without making a splash.”
