The moment we dreaded came Wednesday night, as two American Idol hopefuls were given the boot. In the end, the disco balls came crashing down upon Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai, who struggled in their respective performances on Wednesday's show, which paid tribute to 70s dance music.

Anoop Desai couldn't have picked a worse time to throw a gutterball.
The 21-year-old North Carolina native, clad in a pink sweater while showing off freshly-grown stubble, looked to be running on fumes with a lackluster rendition of Donna Summers' Dim All The Lights on Tuesday's disco-themed show.
Not a good week to hit a low note, particularly when two contestants are due to be eliminated on tonight's results show.

With the buzz on him waning, Anoop Desai needed to hit a home run on Tuesday's Hollywood-themed edition of American Idol to keep pace with the others.
He did. The 21-year-old North Carolina native belted a deep, soulful performance of Bryan Adams 1991 hit (Everything I Do) I Do It For You," likely earning him enough love from the voters to make it another week.

Once again, it was Adam Lambert's star that shined the brightest.
Lambert somewhat saved an-otherwise lacking group performance of Kylie Minogue's 2001 hit Can't Get Out Of My Head on Thursday night's results show, just a week after the show was criticized for alleged lip-syncing during the group number.

Lady Gaga is performing live tonight on American Idol but we have learned exclusively that David Cook pre-taped his spot two weeks ago citing "a personal family matter." Remember last week ….finalist Michael Sarver was eliminated from AMERICAN IDOL. OUCH!
Idol's Anoop Desai: Music is His Passion

Anoop Desai is American Idol's cat with nine lives -- the underdog who keeps eeking out extra weeks with a natural charisma that people just like.
But, according to his aunt, he's more than just a friendly face.
"Anoop listens to good advice," Kirti Desai in an interview with Indian Web site Rediff.com, said. "But he was raised to be his own person. One of the biggest lessons he learned in his childhood was to be humble and believe in the Indian philosophy of doing good karma."
His aunt added that no matter what his fate on the show is, the North Carolina college student will always be skipping to his own beat, literally.
"Music is his biggest passion," she added. "We first heard him sing [at a family event] when he was 17," she said. "We knew he was fond of singing but we never suspected he was so good."
