When Harold Smith was approached by authorities as a "person of interest" in the murder of Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen he turned a gun on himself and committed suicide.

Listen to the shocking 911 call on RadarOnline.com.

After receiving a tip through America's Most Wanted, the Beverly Hills Police Department attempted to serve Smith a search warrant at his Hollywood apartment complex on December 1.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, BHPD Chief Dave Snowden announced on December 8 that preliminary ballistics tests done on the weapon that was used by Smith to take his own life shows it was the same weapon used in the murder of Chasen.

Chasen was gunned down execution-style in the early morning of November 16 in Beverly Hills as she drove home from the Burlesque premiere and after-party.

The 64-year-old veteran PR guru was shot five times in the chest before crashing into a light pole and being transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
