Good news for filmmakers hoping to take home Hollywood’s biggest honor.

The  Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has decided to double its number of Best Picture nominated films from five to 10.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Academy president, Sid Ganis, said the board of governors felt the decision will open up the playing field for more worthy films.

It’s also a throwback to Hollywood’s Golden Age—-during the 1930s and 1940s, 10 nominees were common for Oscar’s Best Picture category.

The change will take effect March 7, during next year’s Oscars ceremony.
