Texas Governor Rick Perry Expected To Drop Out Of Presidential Race

After stumbling out of the gate in Iowa and New Hampshire, Texas governor Rick Perry is expected to drop out of the running for the Republican presidential nomination, CNN reported Thursday.

The network, quoting two sources, reported the longest-serving governor of the Lone Star State will drop out of the race prior to Thursday’s CNN debate in South Carolina (where a primary is slated for Saturday).

While Perry has never lost an election, the politician seemed to get in his own way in his bid for the nomination, appearing unprepared at times, and polarizing at others.

The backlash is mounting against Texas Governor Rick Perry for his new anti-gay ad in Iowa, where he casts the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell in a negative light, and as a tie-in to promote his religious aspirations should he be elected president.

"I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a Christian -- but you don't need to be in the pew every Sunday to know that there's something wrong in this country when gays can serve openly in the military," Perry says in the clip, "but our kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school."

The ad – which first aired on Wednesday - has ignited a firestorm of controversy within Perry's own campaign, as his primary pollster Tony Fabrizio called it "nuts," according to a report from the Huffington Post.

“I honestly do not think that he is, in my opinion, would make a good president as far as I’m concerned,” Ginger White said in an exclusive live interview.

A day after publicly declaring she carried on an affair for 13 years with Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, a Georgia single mother named Ginger White said she's not shocked the former Godfather's Pizza president and chief executive officer is denying he ever bedded her.

"I can't image him actually confirming," she told ABC News' Atlanta affiliate WSB-TV Monday night. "It's the name of the game, I guess."

Last week, we were the first to report the bombshell of Allred’s client Sharon Bialek making national news, revealing in a news conference Cain "suddenly reached over and he put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals" when she asked him for work 14 years ago.

Texas governor Rick Perry Thursday said he's staying in the the race for the Republican presidential nomination, despite his own admission he embarrassingly "stepped in it" during Wednesday's GOP debate in which he was tongue-tied when asked a relatively simple question.

Perry appeared on Thursday's edition of The Today Show, laughing and smiling about his gaffe in a chat with Ann Curry.

Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor-turned-media star, apologized "to those who are disappointed” in her decision to not run for president in 2012, in an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren on Wednesday night.

“I believe I can be an effective voice in some positive change,” Palin said. “You don’t need a title to make a difference in this country: I’m living proof of that.”

Palin said she aims to see that President Barack Obama is not re-elected, and that more conservatives are elected to the House of Representatives. She added she’d give the president a letter grade of an “F” in economic success, and that his only strengths heading into the next campaign are a big bankroll and having “about 90 percent of the media in his back pocket.”
