The 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were held Saturday at The Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles.

It was a star studded show with the best from the fields of film and television coming together to celebrate their work of the past year.
16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Winners Wow
The SAG awards show is the only one of it's kind, as fellow actors vote on each other. It is also the only one of the top shows not to have a dedicated host, opting instead for a slew of celebrity presenters.
Many celebrities say that a SAG award is the most important of the awards season as it means the most to them to be voted on by their peers. And this years winners certainly gushed enough about winning, with the obligatory tears and over running long speeches of thanks.

The show kicked off with amusing monologues by John Krasinski, Edie Falco, Jeff Garlin, Sofia Vergara, Sherri Shepherd and Jeremy Irons, but that was about as funny and entertaining as it got the whole evening.

First presenters of the evening were Justin Timberlake and a stunning Kate Hudson, presenting the award for Outstanding Male Actor In A Comedy Series.
Alec Baldwin won the award and said he was "very very happy to get an award from Kate Hudson" before giving a speech praising the union, which received a rousing round of applause from all in the room.

Next up, Anna Paquin and Simon Baker presenting Outstanding Female Actress In A Comedy Series, which went to 30 Rock star Tina Fey. Keeping her speech short and sweet Fey said she was happy to "hear that song as my hubby gets 15 cents!" Before going on to thanks the crew and cast of 30 Rock and her acting teachers "because I did have acting teachers!"
Kyra Sedgwick and Ray Romano presented the award for Best Ensemble In A Comedy Series, Romano's attempt at humor fell kind of flat and left an embarrassing awkwardness, but the pair recovered enough to present the award to the new hit show and Awards Season favorite so far this year, Glee.
Helen Mirren, looked like a glamorous, gorgeous vision in a sparkly silver gown, presenting the award for Outstanding Male Actor In A Supporting Role to Inglorious Basterds' Christoph Waltz. Looking close to tears during his humble speech Waltz took time to thank all the crew and cast, including the "projectionist".
Alec Baldwin and a very youthful, fresh faced looking Felicity Hoffman teamed up to present Outstanding Female Actor In A Drama Series, giving the award to The Good Wife's Julianna Margulies. Margulies thanked the usual suspects, as well as her mother and father, who she said call her every week
after the show to tell her how much they loved it, going on to say that they weren't quite so keen on role in the critically panned Snakes On A Plane! "They weren't sp proud of that!" She said.
Jenna Fischer and a hunky Benjamin Bratt presented the award for Outstanding Performance For A Male Actor In A Drama Series, giving the "Actor" to
Dexter's Michael C Hall, prompting loud applause from the audience. Wearing the same knitted cap that he wore to the Globes, presumably to cover up his head following hair loss due to the chemotherapy that he has been undergoing for Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Hall made no mention of his illness when accepting the award. Instead Hall made a predictable speech thanking the union, writers, crew, cast and his wife, thanking her again for "wearing that dress", and lastly, but not least, his mom.
Christina Applegate and Chris O'Donnell presented the award for Outstanding Performance For An ensemble Cast In A Drama, to Mad Men. This is the second year in the row that Mad Men has won, and it seems they could of well recycled their speech from the previous year too, with a nod to the usual
suspects and a mention that the show is a "collaborative effort".
Next up, a speech from the Screen Actors Guild president, who quipped to George Clooney in the audience, "George, you're looking a bit tired, been up
to anything lately?" He went on to thank all members and all the other unions and teamsters, finishing off by asking people to keep Haiti in their thoughts and prayers, urging people to "do all you can do to help".
Sandra Bullock looked stunning in a sparkling midnight blue gown, as she presented the Life Achievement Award to veteran TV actress Betty White, Bullock joked that she finds White "annoying" and that "she makes me feel like a slacker". Detailing White's many, impressive career achievements, including 4 Emmy wins, Bullock also commended White for her tireless work on improving animal health and welfare.
White's arrival on the stage prompted a long, standing ovation from all of the audience, and big smiles from all the attending actors, including Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson and Drew Barrymore.
White was funny for an old broad (she recently turned 88) quipping "it's heartening to see how far a girl as plain as she is can go," referring to Bullock. Going on to say that despite her age she still gets "star struck" even though she's worked with a lot of the stars in the room, and even "maybe had a couple of them!" Pretty spicy for an Octogenarian!
Anna Kendrick and Stanley Tucci presented the award for Outstanding Female Actor In A Television Movie Or Mini Series, giving the award to Drew Barrymore for her turn in HBO's Grey Gardens. Giving what was undoubtedly the worst speech of the evening, Barrymore, breathlessly ummed and arrred
and ummed and arred her painful way through.
Michelle Monahan and Jon Hamm gave the award for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A TV Movie Or Mini Series to Kevin Bacon for his role in Taking Chance. Bacon looked close to tears as he accepted his award, thanking everyone and the kitchen sink, but finishing off thanking his "beautiful wife", where the camera panned to a tearful, proud looking Kyra Sedgwick.
Sigourney Weaver remembered the stars that sadly passed away last year. Amongst the many veteran actors that died there were many that died too
young, including, Brittany Murphy, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Patrick Swayze.
Nearing the end of what was pretty much all in all a boring show, Morgan Freeman presented the award for Best Female Supporting Actor In A Feature Film, giving the award to Mo'Nique. Fresh off her win from the Globes Mo'Nique kept her speech, thankfully, short and to the point.
Meryl Streep awarded Jeff Bridges for his win for the Outstanding Performance By A Leading Male Actor In A Feature Film for his turn in Crazy Heart. Bridges, also won at The Globes this year. He took his time to thank everyone involved and not involved in the movie despite being given signals to "wrap it up".
An aging Warren Beatty awarded the Outstanding Performance By A Leading Actress In A Feature Film to Sandra Bullock. This was Sandra's first win at
the SAGs. Hubby Jesse James looked on proudly as Sandra thanked the cast and crew, finishing off by thanking Jesse for "dressing up in monkey suits and sitting with people you don't know" and telling him she loves him "so much".
And thankfully, the end.
Saving the best for last gorgeous George Clooney quipped that he was one of the indiscretions that Betty White had mentioned earlier. Going on to present the award for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble Cast In A Feature Film....to.....Inglorious Basterds.

The sun shined on the red carpet Saturday at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, and inside the wattage was just as bright as the biggest and brightest stars of Hollywood gathered to congratulate each other on their past year's work.
The SAG Awards are the only awards where actors vote for each other, and they guarantee a stellar turn out of the who's who in the Entertainment Industry's movie and TV worlds.
This year didn't disappoint, with the creme de la creme of Hollywood gathering together, hoping to garner a coveted award.
The SAG Awards show doesn’t have an official host but the list of star-studded presenters include Justin Timberlake, Kyra Sedgwick, Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Jane Lynch, Michelle Monaghan, Chris O’Donnell, Anna Paquin, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, Russell Crowe, Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey, Forest Whitaker, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Romano, Jeremy Renner, Carey Mulligan and Anna Kendrick.

After a week of torrential rain the sun finally came out for the stars at the 16th Annual SAG Awards on Saturday at The Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, California.

The celebrities didn't disappoint either, dazzling the red carpet in glorious color and typical Hollywood glamor.
The SAGs, the only show where actors vote for each other, has been a staple in the awards season since it first launched in 1995.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards reward the year’s finest achievements in acting in five film categories and eight television categories, including the distinctive ensemble awards, which honor the collaborative performance by a cast in a motion picture and by the ensemble casts of both comedy and dramatic television series.

SAG nominees are chosen by separate film and television nominating committees, each composed of 2,100 actors, randomly selected in the spring each year from the Guild’s nationwide membership of more than 120,000 actors and actresses. The entire active Guild membership is given the opportunity to vote via online or by paper ballot for their choice of winners.
And the SAGs certainly deliver when it comes to star power. The famous celebrities nominated this year for their performances in 2009 include George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Morgan Freeman, Diane Kruger, Matt Damon, Christopher Plummer and Penelope Cruz.

Six time Emmy winner Betty White will be given the Screen Actors Guild’s 46th Annual Life Achievement Award. The actress, who just turned 88-years-old, is known as the first lady of the game show world, as well as for her stint on the long running hit comedy, The Golden Girls.

White's Propsoal co-star Sandra Bullock will be presenting her with her award.
The Screen Actors Guild Awards will be broadcast live this year on TBS and TNT at 8PM EST/PST.
