Schlemiel! Schlimazel! TV Land Awards Honor Laverne & Shirley & Other Classic Shows

TV Land honored Laverne & Shirley and One Day At a Time, among other classic shows, during its' 10th annual TV Land Awards, hosted by Kelly Ripa and broadcast on Sunday night.

Laverne & Shirley, the Happy Days spin-off that featured Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams as roommates in Milwaukee, won the Fan Favorite Award, while One Day At a Time, which starred Bonnie Franklin, Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips, claimed the Innovator Award.

Pee-wee's Playhouse (Pop Culture Award), Murphy Brown (Impact Award) were also honored on the night.

Former cast member Jim Carrey and ex-fly girl -- and now Dancing with the Stars judge -- Carrie Anne Inaba joined Keenen Ivory Wayans onstage during his acceptance speech as In Living Color won the Groundbreaking Award.

The tragic death of funnyman Robert Schimmel devastated his loved ones, but it also left his family in dire financial straits, and RadarOnline.com has learned a Website has now been set up to accept donations to help offset the mounting medical bills of Schimmel's daughter, Aliyah, was severely injured in the car accident that killed the beloved comedian.

Robert Schimmel's health was failing at the time of his death, and he was waiting for a liver transplant. His daughter Jessica has started the Website Help Bob's Kids to accept donations for the family.

With touching photos of Bob with his kids and his little granddaughter, the site tells of the Shimmel's desperate situation.

Stunned fellow comedians took to their Twitter accounts Saturday to express their shock and sadness over the death of  Robert Schimmel, Radaronline.com can report.

The stand up comedian and frequent Howard Stern guest died Friday following injuries sustained from a serious car accident in Phoenix, Arizona.

Last week the 60-year-old comedian was a passenger in a car that was being driven by his daughter, Aliyah, 19, in Phoenix, Arizona, when she swerved to avoid hitting another car in her lane. The car, containing Schimmel, Aliyah, and Schimmel's 11-year-old son then flipped multiple times.

Schimmel's son was reportedly released from the Phoenix hospital the same day as the accident without any injuries. Aliyah is reportedly still in the hospital and is expected to recover.

Schimmel, a former writer for the hit comedy show In Living Color, the launch pad for Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and several other comics, survived a heart attack in 1998. In 2000 he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which he beat. In January of this year, he announced that he had contracted cirrhosis from a Hepatitis C infection he had gotten from a blood transfusion.

Robert's brother, Jeff Schimmel, confirmed his death on Facebook Friday night in a status update: "ROBERT SCHIMMEL. Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Comedian, Generous Man. I have always loved you, admired you, and was proud to be your biggest fan. I will never forget a single moment. R.I.P.
