Katie Holmes chatted about The Kennedys in a segment on On Air with Ryan Seacrest Monday, saying that she gained a newfound respect for former First Lady Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis while portraying the American icon in the  controversial  new ReelzChannel mini-series.

The mini-series documents President John F. Kennedy’s time in office prior to his assassination in November 1963, and Greg Kinnear plays John. The Kennedys was originally slated to air on The History Channel, but yanked by the network, who said “this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.” (Noteworthy is that Seacrest avoided the controversy altogether in Monday’s segment.)

The ReelzChannel released a new trailer for the controversial 8-part movie event The Kennedys, where Katie Holmes portrays iconic First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy—and you can watch it right here on RadarOnline.com.

The suspenseful teaser follows the Kennedy’s drive to power, with Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson as Joe Kennedy Sr., Barry Pepper as Bobby Kennedy and Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy.

The Kennedys was set to air on the History Channel this Spring, but in January A&E Television Networks pulled the plug on the controversial dramatic interpretation, after deciding it wasn’t a good fit.

We've got a sneak peek at Katie Holmes' new eight-part mini-series The Kennedys, in which she plays the elegant former First Lady Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, better known as Jackie O.

Greg Kinnear plays John F. Kennedy and definitely looks the part. The piece documents Kennedy’s time in office prior to his assassination in November 1963.

The film was originally slated to air on The History Channel, but network officials pulled it last month, saying “this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand.”

Katie Holmes' hit-challenged career took another blow Friday when the A&E Television Networks dumped its highly-touted The Kennedys miniseries, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Calling the finished product "historical fiction," execs at the cable net pulled the plug on its upcoming airing on The History Channel. With Holmes as Jackie and Greg Kinnear as John Kennedy, the eight-parter had been much anticipated and would have put Holmes back on the map as a legitimate star.

"While the film is produced and acted with highest quality, after reviewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand," an A&E rep told The Hollywood Reporter.

The project will be seen internationally but that is likely to offer little comfort to Katie who hasn't had a hit film since 2005; before she was Mrs. Tom Cruise.

The three Cruise girls went on some of the rides at the Centreville Amusement Park on Toronto Islands. They took the quick ferry trip to get there and back, taking cell phone pictures all the way.

Bella seems to be helping out her stepmom by caring for Suri when Katie is working, and the sisters clearly have a great relationship.

Modern-day fashionista Katie Holmes was the mirror image of America’s most beloved style legend, Jackie Kennedy, while filming a History Channel mini-series on Wednesday.

Dressed in a colorful collection of 1960s style period dresses with a flipped-up bob, Holmes boasts a perfect baby bump as she plays the pregnant First Lady for the upcoming saga, The Kennedys.

Equally-stylish daughter Suri, 4, didn’t seem phased by her famous mom’s transformation – or by the faux belly! – as she ran in the grass and showed off her art work to assistants on the set.

Katie can also seen posing with her on-screen spouse, Greg Kinnear, who plays President John F. Kennedy – we hope Tom doesn’t get jealous!

Cruise’s statuesque wife said she was excited to play one of her top fashion icons.

"Her great style was both appropriate for every event that she went to and also classic, and also things that were wearable. I feel really lucky to be playing her,” Holmes, 31, told Us Weekly.
