The new year hasn't been kind to NBC: After it came under fire for the shakeup of The Tonight Show in January, comic Wanda Sykes, appearing on The Jay Leno Show Thursday, took the Peacock Network to task for its culinary celebration of Black History Month, which kicked off this week.

Sykes told Leno she was dismayed by the menu the network is serving in their Burbank, California cafeteria to commemorate the occasion: fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread and black-eyed peas.

Jessica Biel ate a chocolate-covered cricket on The Jay Leno Show Wednesday night, as the shapely Valentine's Day star had to endure the sweet insect for Jay's Earn Your Plug bit. 

Biel first took a bite of chocolate-covered bacon, then chocolate-covered pizza, before consuming the cricket.

Massachusetts Senator-elect Scott Brown, the first Republican elected in the left-leaning state in three decades, appeared in the 10 at 10 segment on The Jay Leno Show Thursday, and discussed his modeling past and his single daughters. 

Leno asked him: “It's been widely publicized that while you were attending law school, you posed for Cosmopolitan Magazine. Now if you were to ever run for president, would you consider doing it again to get female voters?”

NBC has made official what everybody who hasn't been living under a rock has known for days.  The plug has been pulled on The Jay Leno Show.  The sign off is set for February 12 which is when its 10 pm time slot will be taken over by the Winter Olympics.

Is The Jay Leno Show canceled?

An NBC spokesperson tells RadarOnline.com that the peacock network will release a statement Thursday about the future of the ratings-challenged show.

The statement comes amid growing speculation that Jay Leno’s days are numbered. Earlier Thursday, KABC radio announced that Leno was in fact canceled – but so far, the network is not confirming that report.

Amid rampant speculation that NBC had canceled the ratings-challenged The Jay Leno Show, NBC has released a statement to RadarOnline.com in which the peacock network stands behind the former Tonight Show host and suggests the show will be revamped.

The statement reads: “Jay Leno is one of the most compelling entertainers in the world today. As we have said all along, Jay’s show has performed exactly as we anticipated on the network. It has, however, presented some issues for our affiliates. Both Jay and the show are committed to working closely with them to find ways to improve the performance.”

Adam Lambert has always been outspoken. The American Idol singer stopped by The Jay Leno Show on Monday night to clear up rumors about a possible makeup line and an alleged rift with his father following his controversial American Music Awards performance where he kissed another man onstage.

Jay Leno's primetime comedy talk show kicks off with a bang Monday, with TV icon Jerry Seinfeld and a joint performance from hip hop's elite: Jay-Z, Rihanna and controversy magnet Kanye West.

"What we're trying to do is put together acts that you do not normally see together or don't normally perform together," Leno said.

The rest of the week's guests read like a who's who: Tom Cruse appears Tuesday, Robin Williams and Miley Cyrus are slated for Wednesday, and Halle Berry and Eric Clapton appear Thursday.
