WEEKEND BOX OFFICE: Natalie Portman Is Box Office Gold

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher overcame tepid reviews for No Strings Attached and brought their romantic comedy in at number one in this weekend's box office race. The flick is expected to gross $20.3 million.

It's all about Natalie these days. Her Black Swan is still flying high eight weeks into release.  The erotic thriller finished number six this weekend, with another $6.2 million in ticket sales.

The Green Hornet came in second, with $18.1 million and The Dilemma fell to third with $9.7 million.

Green Hornet won the weekend box office race but the Seth Rogen 3D superhero flick is estimated to bring in only $34 million for the three days.  That's not a bad number but slightly below expectations for a picture that cost $110 million to make.

Green Hornet won the weekend box office race but the Seth Rogen 3D superhero flick is estimated to bring in only $34 million for the three days.  That's not a bad number but slightly below expectations for a picture that cost $110 million to make.

The Dilemma is proving to be just that for stars Vince Vaughn and Kevin James.  It opened to a soft $17.4 million.

Golden Globes favorite The King's Speech was possibly the brightest spot on the box office chart.  Eight weeks into release, it is still drawing a crowd.  The Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush film came in number 4, adding another $9.1 to the till.

Ron Howard opened up to The View Thursday about the controversy surrounding his upcoming film The Dilemma, after an offensive line was pulled from its' trailer.

As  RadarOnline.com has previously reported, a line from the film in which character Ronny Valentine (played by Vince Vaughn) says “that’s so gay” was snipped in the wake of a slew of gay bullying incidents late last year, including the suicide of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi.

Vince Vaughn Defends Gay Joke In Movie Trailer

The controversy over the joke calling an electric car “gay” in Vince Vaughn’s new movie The Dilemma caused Universal to remove the joke from the trailer.

Appearing on The Bert Show in Atlanta, the actor defended the joke and the decision to put it in the trailer.

“We didn’t really think it was being used as a derogatory term,” he said. 

“We sort of clarify even within the joke that we say not homosexual gay but your parents are chaperoning the dance.”
