Brendan Fraser took home a top award at the first ever International 3D Society’s Lumiere Awards Tuesday night at Hollywood’s Mann Chinese Theater.
Not only did Brendan star in Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3D, he also executive produced it, that’s why he was given the “3D Talent Award.”
Unlike most A-list stars who breeze in and out of awards shows just long enough to pick up a trophy, Brendan stayed for the after party until late Tuesday night.
Avatar took home the most trophies, made by the same company that manufactures the Oscar.
Avatar Co-Star Giovanni Ribisi made the packed crowd of 300 laugh when he accepted several of the awards for filmmaker James Cameron and producer Jon Landau. He candidly said, “I just got a call today and said, go and accept this award.” Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, who is a champion of 3D films, was honored with the Vision Award.
Here’s the lineup of awards:

Taking of Pelham 123 Taken Down At Box Office

The Taking Of Pelham 123 couldn't manage a first or even second-place box office finish -- the John Travolta/Denzel Washington thriller stumbled to a $25 million, third-place showing in its opening weekend.
The film finished a distant third behind The Hangover ($33.4 million) and Up ($30.5).
Industry experts speculated that the lack of promotion from Travolta -- still recovering from the tragic death of son Jett earlier this year -- might have contributed the lack of buzz that led to the remake's mediocre opening.

Disney/Pixar’s Up lived up to its name this weekend, maintaining the top spot at the box office with a $44 million intake, while Vegas-based Warner Bros. comedy The Hangover hit the box office jackpot to a profitable $43 million in revenues.

With his wife Kate Gosselin and their sextuplets still enjoying their working vacation on Bald Head Island, North Carolina, Jon Gosselin took his older twin girls to a matinee showing of “Up” at a Reading, PA-area theater yesterday; and being left to pick out their own outfits for the outing gave Cara and Mady a chance to be individuals for a change.
UP SOARS

After the earsplitting cacophony of Terminator Salvation and the bulging veins of Wolverine, Disney Pixar’s Up is a summer breeze, a welcome breath of fresh air. In this clever and touching animated pic, our heroes are a curmudgeonly 78-year-old balloon salesman and a chunky 8-year-old Asian kid. And it totally works. There hasn’t been an onscreen odd couple this charming since Midnight Cowboy. Okay, just kidding. But seriously, you’re going to love these two together.
